What is the Driver and what is it for?
The Driver or “wood number one” is the longest club of the player or golfer’s bag and the one with the least angle in his head. This golf club is the one that will allow our ball to reach further and therefore, it will always serve us for long distances from the tee.
Is there variation in the angle of the Driver?
The angle in the driver usually varies between eight up to 13.5 degrees.
In such a way that, with eight degrees of angle in the face of the club, the ball will come out much lower. Therefore, it is usually for high-powered players.
The clubs with an angle in their head of thirteen degrees are for senior players and more beginner ladies, because this certainly helps to lift the ball much more easily; and in this way, we will be able to overcome some obstacles that may exist at the beginning of the hole.
The evolution of the Driver
“The Driver” is the club that has evolved the most in the world of golf. Formerly it was a small wooden head and today is much thicker with a titanium head that is manufactured empty inside to make it lighter.
How to achieve an optimal driver stroke?
With the Driver the ball should go more towards the left foot in its placement. The swing, being a longer club is a directly rounder swing and the angle of attack or the way of hitting the ball is always from bottom to top.
Try it and practice to improve your technique in this exciting long distance stroke. If you get a good domain, with a lot of practice and a bit of luck; you could even get a hole in one!
